The Veranda in Castle Hills is officially open {San Antonio Wedding Photography}

When I was in the media I got a thrill out of being the first person to learn some great bit of news. I was present at some pretty big news events and loved being on the inside and getting the scoop -- and the great shots -- of history in the making. Even if that history was only important to my community. I got a little taste of that recently when I photographed a brand new venue for it's very first wedding. It was the beginning of a new adventure for the hold house in Castle Hills at 1746 Lockhill Selma.

The house itself was built in the 1920s and a lone turret in the lawn is what gave the community of Castle Hills it's name. It served as a private residence for many years and eventually became a restaurant. Today it has been totally renovated to provide glorious weddings and a gathering space for events.

They're hosting an open house from 6:30-9:30 tonight if you'd like to check it out. Or take a look at some of the images I captured that day. I look forward to many more magical nights at this beautiful home.

It's never too late for nice photos {New Braunfels Photography}

I remember when I was a child my grandparents did a vowel renewal on their 50th anniversary. They had a full mass. Stood before the church and before God and reaffirmed what they said 50 years earlier. Then we all went to the KC hall and had a party and a dance. I wasn't more than about 10 at the time so my role was pretty much, run around the dance floor, make friends with the other kids and stay out of trouble.

A couple of weeks ago I photographed a vow renewal for a beautiful couple. It was my first time to photograph a ceremony like this so it was really special. This couple had been married 5 years but they were married in a small Justice of the Peace ceremony and didn't have but a handful of photographs to remember that day. This time they wanted to do it right. So they called me.



It was beautiful! And they made photography a top priority on their day. I'm so happy they did.

Last week I photographed another gorgeous couple. This one is extra special to me because the lovely bride is a wonderful photographer who second shoots for me sometimes at weddings. She's renewing her vows next month after 20 years of marriage. We did a little couples session at the McNay in prepration. I can't wait to photograph her bridals and then her amazing re-wedding.



And finally, just the other day I got a call from another lovely bride who had a quickie JP ceremony three years ago. She wanted to surprise her husband with a photo session for their anniversary. He had no idea when he showed up at the park early Monday morning what he was in for.

They had never had their photos taken together professionally and I was so thrilled to she called me.

Why do They Call it Spring Break? {New Braunfels Senior Portraits}

My kids got a nice little week off last week. They sat around and played video games, ate out for lunch, went to the park, went swimming, had a grand old week. But myself, I'm just now slowing down enough to breathe.

Spring break is a popular time to get senior portraits taken. It's also a popular time to get married. I entered the break pretty much caught up on everything and left it with a big old list of work to edit. The list is finally getting shorter.

So here I thought I'd share just a few of the happy faces from my crazy week.

My shame-faced return {Project 365}

Jayme taunts me that I haven't blogged in more than a month. Yes, I see that. And the reason is quite shameful. I was embarrassed that I slipped in my Project 365. I'm still working on it. I've shot a random non-paid photo almost every day. The problem is processing them and posting them. So I went through my files and pulled out a few of my favorites from the past month and will share them with you here
