Because I grew up in Bastrop, home of the Lost Pines, I'm always at home under pine trees. The trees provided cover from the brutal sun during the ceremony, and offered a lovely backdrop for portraits.
It was hot. So hot, in fact that the cake collapsed before the reception started. But that didn't spoil the festivities for this family.
They partied late into the night and had an amazing time.
It's a little bit of a drive from San Antonio, and an even further drive from New Braunfels. But the road trip was nice and this little piece of land and the sweet owners I met were worth it.
